Art is the Principal of
Art Lifson Consulting, a health
care consulting and lobbying firm.
At his retirement from
CIGNA Corporation, he was the
Vice President for Federal Affairs
and previously served as VP
Federal Health Policy.
He moved
to Washington, DC in 1993 to engage in the great health reform
debate and to represent CIGNA’s
position on expanding health care coverage and reforming
our health care system. He has had several positions in the
insurance industry, including VP Medicare Administration,
CIGNA Healthcare; VP Federal and State Government Relations,
EQUICOR; and VP Health Affairs, Equitable Life Assurance
Society of the US. Art has frequently testified before Congress
on health policy issues, is recognized as an expert in long term
care insurance, and has served as a spokesperson for various
industry groups.
Art has been active in many trade associations, volunteer
organizations and academic institutions. He currently serves as
the Chair of the Visiting Committee of the Mandel School of
Applied Social Sciences at Case Western University, as well as
Treasurer and Board Member of the American Jewish Society
for Service, Member of the National Governing Council of
the American Jewish Congress, and Member of the Board of
Directors of The Ripon Society.
He holds a Masters of Science of Social Administration from
Case Western Reserve University and a BA in History from
Hunter College.
